Last Wednesday, we hosted our first student of the month luncheon. Families were able to hear words from the student's teachers on how and why they were selected from their respective programs as well as enjoy a catered lunch. Mr. Sam Banks served as our special guest and gave students a special congratulations. Congrats again to MaKya, Langhston, Janos, Malon, Divinity and Jeniyah are being our first student of the month recipients!!





Congratulations to MaKya and Langhston on being named student of the month for our Ele Restore program. Both students are amazing leaders at school and work extremely hard to be the very best they can be. Keep up the great work!

Today was bittersweet in our Ele. Restore program as we enjoyed our last day with Kaden and Ma'Kya. Both of these amazing students are headed back to Dr. Howard tomorrow. Kaden and Ma'Kya have been phenomenal leaders in our Restore program. While we are sad to see them go we are so proud of the students they have become and more importantly the young people that they have blossomed into. Go show everyone how amazing you are!!

We are excited to welcome our new Dean of Students, Mrs. Aimee Davis to the Rise Center at Columbia. Mrs. Davis is excited to support students in finding their way to long term success and continuing to cultivate the path to learning as she works alongside a strong staff. Outside of school, Mrs. Davis enjoys playing with her three children, date nights with her husband, and attending various sporting events! Welcome to the team Mrs. Davis!

What a week 1 at the Rise Center at Columbia!! We have four amazing programs (Novak, Elementary Restore, Middle School Restore, and ACTIONS) that came together to give our students a great first week. There were smiles and positive energy throughout the entire building all week. Big things are in store this school year at the Rise Center!

We are excited to announce another great new addition to our ACTIONS Restore middle school staff!! Ms. Teneka Richardson will be joining us next fall as our new math teacher for middle school Restore. Teneka started her career in 2007 as a teaching assistant and has been teaching since 2012. Teneka is an Illini/Chicago sports fanatic who likes to spend time in nature, making memories with family and friends, going on adventures, and doing anything with arts and crafts! Teneka has an undying passion for workings with students that others might label as "hard to reach" because she also was labeled as one of those students growing up. She is deeply invested in our students and families that we serve and is grateful for the opportunity to continue to impact change in a new setting!! Welcome to the team Teneka!!
